I will go on a crusade to find Shot Through The Heart today...will not rest until it is playing repeatedly on my "boom box"

Please don't forget the hand made puffy paint shirts to go with your hand made cut off levi's, that just like wouldn't be like cool of you, like no way.

And along with knowing all the Teenage Mutuant Ninja Turtle's names, you may catch yourself saying COW-A-BUNGA now and then...or is that just me?

Not only was my hair in a ponytail on the side of my head (completely plastered down by AquaNet and gelled up with L.A. Looks)but there was about 15 ponytail rings holding it there, one for every single color you could possible find in my "splash painted" outfit.

I still have my "We Are The World" RECORD!

I jammed out every day to my Barbie and the Rockers TAPE.

I had matching jelly bracelets to go with my Jelly Shoes.

A few of my outfits had SUSPENDERS!

    Who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!

Did you have a Swatch Watch?

Perhaps I was only 9 years old but I knew that I could not go to the mall without "my mall hair" crimped and extra thick shoulder pads.

Remember when MTV actually showed VIDEOS!

Oh and Top Gun, Cocktail, Dirty Dancing, Sixteen Candles, Die Hard, Pretty in Pink, Footloose, and Revenge of the Nerds...need I say more.

    Where you ever "DISSED"?

I never left home without my "Pocket Rocker" and my favorite tape was Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam...Oooh Baby I think I love you from head to toe....

.....I'll think of more, I'm sure....I lived for the 80's!

I can not believe that you said "Pocket Rocker," hilarious! I had one too - I think my fav was Tiffany!

Anybody ever watch the snorkels or the Wuzzles on the Disney Channel. The Gummi Bears - "bouncing here and there and everywhere."

I think I had 8 million slap bracelets that I would buy at the flea market - yes I went to the flea market.

MG and I had the bangs for school that we used Aussie (sorry K.E.) to keep them in place - our windbreakers.

Who else had the life-sized pins of NKOTB on their jean jackets?

Don't forget that lunch boxes were metal (I had Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard and Transformers the movie lunchboxes). Let's not forget TV shows like Dallas, Airwolf, A-Team, Buck Rogers and the cartoons Thundercats, Transformers, GI Joe (When people say "Now you know." I still respond with "Knowing is half the battle!" and want to shout "Yo, Joe!"

Let's also not forget the Original Star Wars movies before George Lucas thought he needed to change them. There was E.T. and the movie RAD (please tell me someone remembers RAD).

RAD, was a movie about a paperboy who wanted to compete in some BMX competition called Hell Track. It had Lori Laughlin in it (pre Full House). The movie was 1986. It had this great scene at a dance where Lori's character and the main character (love interests) danced on bikes to "Send Me An Angel". Here is a link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091817

Great post Morgan! I just sat here at my desk laughing! I realted to every number except the mullets! Dirty Dancing is STILL one of my all time favorite movies! You were definitely NOT cool if you weren't at the skating rink on Friday nights playing four corners and couple skating with your latest crush/boyfriend! I had every my little pony with a house, 6 popples, all the rainbow bright dolls and strawberry shortcake scented dolls!

Does anyone else remember those "poppers" that you would turn inside out and then set them on a flat surface to let them "pop" up and they would go flying? I have a picture of Career Women with on stuck on her forehead, nose, and chin while we were swimming at my house! She was so cute!

Did anyone else fight with their brothers/sisters on who got the cool toys out of the cereral boxes? We were actually banned from them by our parents because it got so bad...

How about the shoelaces that curled on the ends?

    Punkey Bruster (sp)?

    Kick the Can?

    Cricket the talking doll?

    PERMS!!!!

    Large framed glasses...

Mall Madness, Sweet Valley High, The New Kids On The Block, board games?

Awe... the '80s! I love them!

"Turn the radio up, for that sweet sound..."

"Step by step, heart to heart, left right left and we all fall down..."

What a great post!!! LOVE IT!

Can't stop singing Bon Jovi now! It's so strange that the majority of those things were trans-atlantic.. The popper-y things - so much fun, especially when they come free in cereal packets! I am going to wear my hair in a side-ponytail for the rest of the day whilst alternating between singing shot through the heart and rapping the fresh prince and doing the carlton..! Hurray for the eighties!

FABULOUS!!! This is such a great list, I am laughing so hard tears are streaming down my cheeks.

I was, not so fondly, known at the Rat Tail Patrol. If your ass sat in front of me and you had a rat tail, it was GONE by the end of the class. Those suckers scared the CRAP out of me.

There are so many wonderful things to add...Atari, Sebagos with no socks (ew that was SO smelly), Electric Youth perfume, those giant bows that matched the puff painted t-shirts held to the side by the matching tee tie, Anastasia Krumpnik books, Christopher Pike books (I STILL think that "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is based on one of those), the answering machine for your locker, oh my I could go on and on and on.

BTW...came here from Amalah. Great blog, you are all so funny!!!
